Scavenger Hunt Sunday 7-29-12

It's been a while since I have posted to SHS, sometimes, life just takes over.  But this week I decided to get to it and used my IPhone exclusively for these photos.  It was fun to take a walk at lunch time and see what I could match up to the prompts and then fill in what I couldn't.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 04-15-2012

Here are my interpretations of this weeks hunt photos: Simple, Grain, Transportation, Stitch and Bubbles

TRANSPORTATION

GRAIN

SIMPLE

BUBBLES

STITCH

This one is special,  it is a photograph of a hand done embroidery on velvet.  It was designed and stitched by my late Mother-in-Law and she made it while recouperating from the effects of polio 61 years ago.  I think it is just wonderful.

Scaventer Hunt Sunday: 4-1-2012

It's been a couple of weeks since I have participated, time just seems to fly by and there isn't enough of it, but here are my shots for this weeks hunt:  Clouds, Seven, High Angle, Low Angle, and Sunflare.

CLOUDS

HIGH ANGLE
This week I was lucky enough to visit the Chicago Botanical Garden and take some early Spring Pictures.  I rather liked this angle of some of the architecture with in the garden.

LOW ANGLE
Another shot in the Garden inside the Conservatory, this waterfall is sunken into the lower level.

SEVEN
OK there are 6 Dwarfs and Snow White, which does make seven.  I made this set some years ago and have moved it many times, unfortuately the "7th" Dwarf met his fate in one of our moves.  Can you guess which one?

SUNFLARE
This shot is from my archives, which I don't use very often, but it is one of my favorites with the Sunflare at the top.  It is actually the James R. Thompson Building the Illinois State Building in the City of Chicago.

SHS 2-26-12

GRAY
We had snow on Thursday night here in Chicago, and Friday morning althought beautiful, the scene was very gray.

GLIMPSE
CROSSED
With the beginning of lent, this is what came to mind.

BLISS
Can be different on any given day, today, it was a Skinny Mocha

HANDWRITTEN
Not much is handwritten these days, and there was nothing of interest around my house, except a bit of history from a book, JOHN ADDAMS, with a copy of the first letter he wrote to his wife Abagail from the then White House.  I think the art of writing letters by hand is slowly becoming extinct.

SHS 2-19-12

DUPLICATE
This is my Indican Chief and I think he is quite a creation.  Some years ago I was looking for a Christmas Gift for my husband, and I was driving to the mall in Virginia where we lived at the time.  At a corner gas station there was a man and his pick up truck and a chain saw with large logs.  This man made carvings in the logs with his chain saw and we thought it was great.  So Indian Chief became a part of the family and we have carried him with us through the years.

LOVE
The Valentine Flowers my hubby sent to me at work for Valentine's Day.  I really didn't expect anything so they were a great surprise.  We will celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary this year and it's nice to know LOVE is still in the air.

PAPER
Japanese Paper Lantern

PLASTIC
Ok, I just couldn't think of anything really creative for this one, so here you have "plastic"

TREND OR TRENDING
It is Fashion Week in New York, and that brought to my mind, what is Fashion "Trending" this week here in Chicago.

SCAVENGER HUNT SUNDAY

HOBBY
I wish I had kept all of my camera's over the years, from my first Kodak Brownie Camera
SHINY
I went on an outing with my loal photo club today, to the Genesse Theatre and the Chandeliers were beautiful.

Footwear

My new boots for a rainy day

Color Me Green

STRIKE A POSE
I have a hard time with self portraits, but I continue to try to be more comfortable with it.  I did not like the shadow in this one, but sometimes time just runs out.  Helpful hints would be appreciated.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 1-22-12

SUNSET
I had to go to the archive for this one, as we have had gray-snowy days all week, but this was a good one on the side of a cruise ship on the Mexican Riviera.
A DAY IN MY LIFE
My days are full of many things, family, pets, and work, but each day begins on the Treadmill.
,
BLACK AND WHITE
It snowed here this week, I thought this lends itself to B & W

FOUR

Continuing with my snowy theme, I snapped these the morning after our storm.  Everything looked so fresh and frozen.  I am ready for Spring, not much of a winter lover.
