SHS 12-18-2011

This weekend has been hectic, wrapping, dinners and babysitting, not a whole lot of time for photo taking so here are my photos for this week's hunt, some taken on the run.
I hope you all have a Wonderful, Joyous Holiday!

Santa baby, and hurry down the chimney tonight"

NOSTALGIC
When I saw this for the Hunt, I could only think of when my boys were little, so here is a shot of us about 28 years ago,  now they have toddlers of their own.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 11-20-11

MAINLY ONE COLOR

Greenhouses are one of my favorite things, and when they are full of the new season's Poinsettias it is even more special.

REFLECTIONS

One morning this week the sun was at just the right angle to shine through a leaded glass window and make this reflection with rainbow, if you can see it, on our bathroom wall.  It was such a good way to wake up.

WATER

The waterfall is from my recent trip to Dominica in the Southern Caribbean.

AROUND THE HOUSE

 WRITING

It is that time of year and I need to write my letter to Santa,  I am hoping for a couple of photography accessories.  Maybe an external flash unit, I hope.....

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

BEFORE

I shot this at Sunrise on Friday and it seemed a little hazy when I looked at it on the computer.

AFTER

So, I did a little cropping as I didn't think the grass was important to what I wanted to see and then I adjusted the clarity and saturation a little in Photoshop Elements as well as adjusted the blacks just a little.

 OPPOSING LINES

My time was kind of limited this week, so I didn't get out too much for photography, I did the best I could, I see the design of my deck as a pattern of opposing lines.

LITTLE FEATURES

This is one of my favorites of my grandchildren taken this summer.  I think there little hands and feet are precious.

WHICH PEAR OF SHOES SHOULD I WEAR?

CUSTOME BOKEH

Thanksgiving is around the corner and with that here is my custom bokeh.  I don't have a Lens Baby, but I have alot of fun with crafting punches, black construction paper and colored lights.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

This weeks prompts were challenging for me, I was low in the idea pool.

Always Look at the Bright Side

My attempt here was a High Key presentation of this fall landscape.

FLY

One of my favorite subjects are these Cranes, they are so wonderfull to watch

UNDER

This is actually the rain drainage hole under the stone fence around Fort Frederick on the island of Grenada.  It was like a little view into a secret garden.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 10-16-11

I have missed a couple Scavenger Hunts, as I was on vacation in the Caribbean, wonderful blue, clear sea water, gracious people and a great time. As you can guess some of my snaps will be appearing in Scavenger Hunt Sunday.

FACES IN STRANGE/UNEXPECTED PLACES
I took this one on the Island of Bonaire, it is a monument to commemorate the MILLENNIUM. There were many tourists all around and I took my time to frame it all alone, so I thought, but as I pressed the exposure this gentlemen must have walked into the shot, I did not notice his presence until later and I did not expect it.

ABSTRACT
Here is a part of the stone and cement pavement on the hill below the monument above, I thought it had an ABSTRACT quality.

FIRE
No bonfires or anything to exciting this week.  I do like to burn scented candles though.
STARS

Surprising what you can do with a candle, reflections and a star hole punch.

This week I would like to say thank you to Ashley and all of you for these different prompts.  I am challenged each week to try something new which is always fun and I am learning so much.

ELIMINATION-2

Here I eliminated a large part of the background.  I think it makes a very different subject.

STATUES

I sort of cheated here but I wanted to show another complete elimination, so i chose to use the same subject, but I promise they were all seperate shots, no cropping.
